Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) recently launched its micro SUV, Hyundai Exter. The Exter will directly compete with Tata Punch in India. Exter is the first car in its segment to come with 6 standard airbags. In addition to that, the option of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system is available from the base trim itself.
Now let’s talk about the safety of this car, loaded with several impressive and segment-first features. Information regarding how safe this car is in a real sense has not yet been revealed, but the company believes that this car will receive a good rating in NCAP testing. As we mentioned earlier, this car comes with the option of ESC, which can help achieve a good score in the Global New Car Assessment Program crash tests.
‘Safer Cars for India Program’ Global NCAP has recently made changes to its safety test protocols. The company has revised its protocols under the ‘Safer Cars for India Program.’ ESC feature has been made mandatory for a 5-star safety rating.
Company’s Confidence in Safety Features Hyundai India states that it aims for a ‘good NCAP rating’ for the Exter. Tarun Garg, COO of HMIL, said, “With Exter, the company’s focus has been on safety, and we have made several changes with 6 airbags as a standard and the option of ESC from the base trim. With these features, our NCAP rating will be good.” It won’t be easy for Tata Punch to compete with Exter as this car has already received a 5-star safety rating.
