Chinese smartphone maker Redmi had launched the Redmi 12 in some international markets earlier this year. It is scheduled to be launched in India on August 1. The phone will feature an Octa-core MediaTek Helio G88 SoC with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. It will be powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with 18 W wired fast charging support. The specifications of the smartphone expected to be launched in the country are likely to be similar to its international variant.
Redmi has provided information about the colors of the phone through a tweet. It will be available in Jade Black, Moonstone Silver, and Pastel Blue colors. The Silver variant of the handset displays a rainbow-like shade when light falls on it. The phone comes with a triple rear camera setup. Its sales in the country will be carried out through Amazon and Flipkart.
The company had launched the Redmi 12 in Europe in Midnight Black, Polar Silver, and Sky Blue colors. It was initially priced at 199 euros (approximately 17,000 rupees). In Thailand, the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant is priced at 5,299 baht (approximately 12,500 rupees). The pricing in India is expected to be similar to that in Europe.
The estimated specifications of the Redmi 12 include a 6.79-inch display with a center punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The display offers full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side. The triple rear camera setup consists of a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, an 8-megapixel front camera is provided. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G88 processor and comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 5,000 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging. Recently, the company had launched a new storage variant of the Redmi 12C in India with MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and 5,000 mAh battery with 10W wired charging support. Redmi’s sales have seen significant growth in the past few years.
