Meteorite incidents of falling on Earth continue to be reported, but this time, something strange happened. In France, a meteorite fell on a woman. At the time of the incident, the woman was with her friend, having coffee together. Fortunately, the woman did not suffer serious injuries. Initially, both the woman and her friend thought that a piece of cement had fallen on her. Suspicious about the incident, they sought the help of an expert, and it was then revealed that the object that hit the woman was a meteorite.
This event was reported by the French newspaper “Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace” (DNA). It was mentioned that the woman was talking with her friend on a rooftop while they were having coffee when the mysterious object struck her arm.
During an interview with local media, the woman mentioned that she heard a noise on the roof, and the next moment, she felt a jolt in her arm. Initially, she thought it was some animal like a bat, then she saw the object and thought it was cement, but it had no color. This incident took place in the commune of Schirmeck in northeastern France, and the identity of the woman has not been disclosed.
After the incident, the woman and her friend approached a roof construction worker, who informed them that the object was not made of cement. The woman showed the mysterious object to a geologist named Thérèse Rebmam, who confirmed that it was a meteorite. The recovered fragments had a weight of about 4 ounces.
According to NASA, it is estimated that around 50 tons of meteorite material falls on Earth daily, but most of it lands in the ocean. Even if meteorites fall on land, identifying them among rocks and boulders can be challenging since they may look similar.
The report mentions that the first recorded case of a meteorite hitting a human occurred in the United States about 70 years ago. A woman in Alabama was struck by an 8-pound meteorite, causing her serious injuries.
